A Great Weekend Excursion

While enjoying our last dinner together this past Sunday–at the Rovero Winery–Mike paid me a high compliment: “This is probably the best weekend excursion I’ve ever had!” That pretty much sums up the great time we all had when Mike, his wife Gabrielle, and his mother-in-law Lynn, joined me for A Taste of Italy weekend. Our hands-on cooking classes took place around my kitchen counter… …where we made potato gnocchi… …as well as some delicious No Knead Bread...

The Best Pasta I Ever Ate

This past weekend we were invited to join our neighbors and some of their friends in a tour of the beautiful Lange region south of Torino, a countryside of rolling hills with churches and vineyards everywhere we looked. We’ve been invited to join them in the past, both in Tuscany as well as in the Lake Como area. My Good Husband and I consider it a real privilege to experience these gastronomic outings with such experts! Men Make Their Debut at “A Taste of Italy”!

Since starting A Taste of Italy in 2010, I’ve loved hosting small groups of women here in the Torino area. So congratulations to Michelle and Luciana… …for being the first women to convince their husbands that they would have a great time at A Taste of Italy weekend! We had a terrific time together this past weekend! We cooked...

Taste of Italy Weekends Fall 2010

Two groups of women came to Torino this fall to get a Taste of Italy. They participated in two cooking lessons with me, learning to make several everyday Italian dishes. We saw the sights of Torino and the nearby areas, and I introduced them to some of the area's best restaurants. We had a great time together!

Tuscany

Our downstairs neighbors invited us to spend a weekend with them and a group of their friends in Tuscany. Since we lived in Rome for three years, we had been to Florence and had traveled through Tuscany...but to get to go with a group of Italians who really know their food...this was a wonderful opportunity and we jumped at the chance.

It’s Wine Time in Italy

Fall is harvest time in Italy…and the grapes are ready to harvest! In fact, Enrico, who runs the Rovero Winery south of Torino told me that the harvest began in mid-August, earlier than usual due to warmer weather conditions. I visited the winery this past weekend as part of A Taste of Italy cooking and tasting adventure with these four lovely ladies… What an interesting, international experience we had! The girls all currently live in Geneva, Switzerland, work for four different firms, and come from...
